Julia Child once said that "People who love to eat are always the best people." Since the world is slowly re-opening, we decided to ask 5 illustrators what their first choice of food would be when they could go out again. You may get a bit hungry so don’t forget to grab some food!

Sinister Squids

AWW: What is the first thing you want to eat when the world re-opens?

Sinister Squids: Oh man, that is a good question... hmmm this might sound a bit odd, but I would love to get a nice large and decadent salad with a lot of extras on the side. I think being in quarantine I have been eating mainly foods that have a long shelf life and not too many vegetables haha, and I feel like fresh veggies sound really good right now. BUT, then I would like to finish it off with an extra large ice cream from Van Leeuwen, the strawberry crumble flavour to enjoy with my friends would be so fun! Wow, now I am really dreaming of this ice cream salad adventure.

Cécile Berrubé

AWW: What is the first thing you want to eat when the world re-opens?

Cécile Berrubé: I already dream about the first café I will visit when the world reopens. It’s a lovely and rustic little place, near a lake, where the cakes are delicious and the coffee delightful. I will probably have an oat milk latte, but what cake? I am not sure…. It’s always hard to choose between the strawberry brownie and the carrot cake. Now that I think about it… I’ll probably have both!

Haambao

AWW: What is the first thing you want to eat when the world re-opens?

Haambao: I will go to those century-old Hong Kong tea restaurants (Cha Chaan Teng) to grab a freshly baked pineapple bun or egg tart with hot milk tea. I hope those old shops and restaurants can survive this difficult time. Preserving local history and culture is a responsibility of everyone.

AWW: What is the first thing you want to eat when the world re-opens?

Alice Horn: I cannot wait to get a yasai katsu curry with a side of mixed mushrooms bao buns from Wagamamas

Dana Jung

AWW: What is the first thing you want to eat when the world re-opens?

Dana Jung: A delicious dessert and hot coffee.
