RMM Magazine, Vol.10, Dark Issue
Ma Ke / Kiyoshi Kuroda / Seeman Ho / Dylan Martorell / Madeline Marie Slavick
MAY / JUNE 2007 Vol.10 Dark Issue
The Dark Issue is about the power of silence. When the daylight dies out and darkness comes, the exterior vanishes then the best moment for self-contemplation arrives. In this issue, RMM speaks with four remarkable people who enjoy working and evolving life through their creativity and through perseverance. They express themselves through their work, which can unite and extend their deepest spirit, their deepest power.
Ma Ke, the Chinese fashion designer, presents an independent and rejuvenating view of Asian philosophy with her “Wu Yong” collection. More powerful with the removal of color, illustrations by Kiyoshi Kuroda allow one to feel the beauty and simplicity of a world composed by lines. Seeman Ho, artist from Hong Kong, is known as the “sweet terrorist”, who turns loneliness and darkness to a sweet symphony. Dylan Martorell, the Australian illustrator, works in a variety of media; his screen-prints convey a sense of mystery and beauty.
Sometimes only in darkness and silence, we see ourselves.
