RMM Artbooks No.05 — The Story Unfolding, by Hannah Morris (USA)
Inspired by the lively and playful expressions of daily observations, this works are created to release the host of characters and stories living within the artist. The artist uses pen & ink, gouache and paper based collages since these are the most intuitive mediums for capturing spirits, characters and movements; she uses details as a personalized visual language. Her themes are often mundane, usually humorous, and frequently self-referential so that spaces can be created for viewers to interpret her sense of humour and read her grammar in multiple ways.
About the artist:
Hannah Morris was born in 1974. She was in and out of body casts and leg braces for the next two years due to a congenital dislocated hip. That made her learnt to use her hands early on. She made drawings, dolls, stories, and characters, all done at her young ages. She now lives and works as a graphic artist and illustrator in Montpelier, Vermont.
